Join us for SMAA’s monthly artist demonstration meeting by watercolor artist Brett Cummins at the Rebekah Stark Johnson Community Arts Center, in downtown Hattiesburg, Mississippi Tuesday May 12, 2025 from 6:45 to 8 PM.
We will explore watercolor methods for capturing transparent and reflective surfaces, supported by a collection of Brett Cummins' paintings and a quick live demonstration.
Brett Cummins is a fine artist living in South Mississippi. Born and raised in the desert cities of the American Southwest, he developed an early appreciation for vast landscapes, bold light, and open space. Relocating to the Deep South introduced him to a dramatically different culture and environment—lush, humid, and rich with layered history—which has deeply expanded and reshaped his creative voice. Brett’s work invites viewers to slow down, lean in, and engage more closely with what they see and feel. Through his art, he hopes to spark curiosity, awaken imagination, and encourage others to pursue their own creative journeys..
